Women's Tennis Sends Five To ITA Regionals

WEST POINT, N.Y.The University of Connecticut women's tennis team sent four student-athletes to the ITA Northeast Regional this past weekend held at West Point. Sophomore Maxene Weinberg competed in singles. Junior Lucy Nutting joined Weinberg in doubles play. Senior Abby McKeon and junior Jennifer Learmonthalso competed in doubles, winning their opening match.
Weinberg had a bye in the round of 128 but fell in the round of 64 to Lauren Davis of Boston University, 6-3, 6-0.
Stosljevic dropped her match in the round of 32 in the qualifying singles draw to Crystal Yen of Harvard, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles action, Learmonth and McKeon battled in their opening match in the round of 64 to down Caroline Koladzyn and Monica Yajima of Fairfield, 9-7. In the round of 32, the UConn duo fell to Hanna Yu and Elizabeth Epstein of Yale, 8-1. Yale's pairing eventually advanced to the quarterfinals.
UConn's second pairing of Weinberg and Nutting dropped their opening match to Amber Washington and Nevena Selakovic of St. John's, 8-4.
