ALBANY, N.Y. - Behind excellent singles play, the UConn women's tennis squad defeated Colgate on the road, 6-1. Connecticut took points at No. 2-6 singles and also earned the point in doubles play with victories at No. 2 and 3.

Jennifer Learmonthdropped her match at No. 1 singles, 7-6(4), 6-4, but the Huskies would respond with a sweep in the next five matches.

Alexa Gregory handled her opponent at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-4. Maxene Weinberg saw similar results at No. 3, winning 6-3, 6-4. She was followed by victories from Lucy Nutting at No. 4, Lauren Wilmarth at No. 5 and Marie Gargiuloat No. 6 singles.

Learmonth and Weinberg dropped a close match at No. 1 doubles, 8-7(5), but were supported by victories from Gregory and Nutting at No. 2 and Gargiulo and Abby McKeonat No. 3 doubles. Gregory and Nutting won 8-6, followed by an 8-5 victory for Gargiulo and McKeon.
