STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut volleyball team dropped the finale game of the UConn Classic to its champion Michigan State, 3-0, Saturday night at Gampel Pavilion. After posting 3-0 wins over Dartmouth and Fairfield, the Huskies entered the final game matching MSU with a 2-0 record before falling to the Spartans 25-17, 25-9 and 25-17.

Connecticut is now 3-3 on the season after finishing 2-1 on the weekend.

Senior libero Kelsey Maving (Tonowanda, N.Y.) and sophomore outside hitter Devon Maugle (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) were each named to the All-Tournament Team. Maving totaled 53 kills in three matches, including 16 in the contest against Michigan State. Maugle was the team's leading attacker with 36 kills, a .245 kill percentage and a pair of double-doubles.

MSU's Lauren Wicinski netted a game-high 17 kills and hit .452 in the final match to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team. She also recorded 10 digs for a double-double. Tournament MVP Kori Moster, the Spartan libero, picked up 16 digs in the win.

Senior outside hitter Mattison Quayle (Los Angeles, Calif.) led the way for UConn with eight kills, while freshman setter Marissa Prinzbach (Cincinnati, Ohio) had 15 assists.

For Michigan State, Kristen Kelsay picked up 26 assists and Halle Peterson had 14.

The Spartans hit .344 for the match, holding the Huskies to a -.011 mark.

Connecticut returns to action with a non-conference match-up an intrastate rival Hartford at 7:00 pm on Tuesday September 4.
