STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team continues its fundraising efforts for The Friends of Mel Foundation through the sale of pink game-worn jerseys. The Huskies will wear them in their annual Skating Strides game against Providence on Friday night at 7:00 pm.
Pink jerseys will be available for purchase the night of the game or through the foundation's website www.FriendsOfMel.org. Fans will also be able to donate by purchasing pink paper skates, t-shirts and other items at the rink on Friday. All proceeds will benefit The Friends of Mel.
All students in attendance will also be entered into a drawing for a $100 D.P. Dough gift card.
So far, UConn has raised more than $7,000 through last week's Skating Strides clinic and fundraising efforts of the student-athletes. Last season, Connecticut raised over $11,000 and have led the entire Hockey East in funds raised since the program's inception by raising more than $50,000 coming into this season.
