Lacrosse Welcomes Cincinnati & Louisville this Weekend

STORRS, Conn.- The UConn lacrosse team is hosting back-to-back league opponents this weekend as the Huskies face Cincinnati on Friday at 3 p.m. and Louisville on Sunday at noon. The Huskies (9-1, 2-1 BE) are ranked No. 18 in this week's deBeer-Inside Lacrosse national rankings after earning two conference road matches where Connecticut defeated Rutgers, 8-7, for the first time since 2005 and downed Villanova in overtime, 12-11.
Connecticut is led by junior mid Lauren Kahn who holds team-bests in goals (22), assists (22), points (44), groundballs (28), draw controls (39) and caused turnovers (19). Kahn, selected to this week's BIG EAST Honor Roll, is second in the conference in points per game (4.40 ppg) and third in assists per game (2.20 apg).
Freshman Shannon Nee has been outstanding defending the UConn goal as she sits at 7-1 on the season with 58 saves and a 9.55 goals against average. She is currently sixth in the conference with 5.80 saves per game.
Both conference foes will enter this weekend searching for their first league win of the season as the Bearcats sit at 6-5 (0-3 BE) and the Cardinals are 8-4 (0-3 BE). Louisville will take on No. 5 Syracuse on Friday before coming to Storrs.
Sunday's contest is Junior Husky Day and Fan Appreciation Day at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex where there will be a UConn sunglass giveaway and PC Richard giveaway.
