STORRS, Conn.- The No. 17/16 University of Connecticut lacrosse team puts its seven-game win-streak on the line this Friday, April 26th when it travels to Washington, D.C., to take on Georgetown in a BIG EAST showdown at 4 p.m. The Huskies (13-1, 5-1 in BIG EAST play) will be looking for their sixth consecutive league victory.
Two Huskies received accolades after their stellar performances over the weekend. Freshman goalkeeper Shannon Nee was named the BIG EAST Defensive player of the week after holding opponents to just 11 goals over the two games. Nee recorded 10 saves against the Fighting Irish, and committed just one turnover.
Also earning praise for her impressive weekend was senior Morgan O'Reilly, who was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll after tallying five points over the two games this weekend. The senior scored four times against Notre Dame, including the eventual game-winner.
The Huskies closed out a perfect 7-0 season at home, which marks the first time in the history of the program that they have been undefeated in Storrs. Third year head coach Katie Woods, who entered the season with a 19-13 career record at UConn, has turned Connecticut into one of the up-and-coming and most exciting schools to watch this season.
The Huskies will have one more away game at Loyola Maryland on Sunday, April 26th before preparing for postseason action.
