UConn Opens Spring Trip with 7-0 Win Over Colgate

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's tennis team got their annual spring break trip started with a 7-0 blanking of Colgate University on Monday in Puerto Rico. The Huskies improved to 3-8 on the season with the victory.
The Huskies swept all six singles matches, not dropping a set, and took the doubles point for the clean sheet win. Sophomore Srna Stosljevic (Novi Sad, Serbia) led the singles charge with a 7-5 and 6-0 win over Jennifer Ho at #1. Stosljevic improves to 14-9 on the season and 7-4 in dual matches.
Freshman Emma Alderman (Hingham, Mass.) defeated Kelsey Shea, 6-1 and 6-0 and #2 and junior Maxene Weinberg (Marietta, Ga.) won at #3 over Alex Petrini, 6-1 and 6-3.
Senior Lucy Nutting improved her record to 11-9 and 7-4 in dual matches thanks to a 6-3 and 6-1 win over Katie Grant at #4. Freshman Shea Flanagan (Overland Park, Kan.) won 6-4 and 6-0 over Kaelin Brittin at #6 and senior Jennifer Learmonth (Elgin, S.C.) completed the singles sweep with a 6-0 and 6-1 win over Kirstie Woodbury.
In doubles, Stosljevic and Nutting improved to 6-7 as a team with a win over Petrini and Shea, 8-0. Weinberg and Alderman sealed the point by beating Ho and Brittin, 8-1, at #2.
The Huskies will play Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on Tuesday and hope to reschedule a match with Cincinnati for later on the trip.
