NEW YORK - The University of Connecticut men's basketball team held two practices on Thursday in preparation for its NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 game against Iowa State on Friday night.
The Huskies practiced at Baruch College at 9:30 a.m. before hosting an open practice for the media and fans at Madison Square Garden from 12-12:50 p.m. Following the second practice, seniors Shabazz Napier (Roxbury, Mass.) and Niels Giffey (Berlin, Germany) and UConn head coach Kevin Ollie fielded questions from reporters in the media room. The media also had a chance to speak with other players in the locker room 30 minutes after the open practice.
Connecticut's Sweet 16 matchup is set for 7:27 p.m. on Friday evening and can be seen on TBS. The game can be heard live on the UConn IMG Sports Radio Network. The Huskies and Cyclones have met just once on the court with Iowa State defeating UConn, 77-64, in the Second Round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
