UConn Falls to Fairfield, 4-1

MANCHESTER, Conn. - The UConn men's tennis team dropped their fifth-straight dual match of the spring, falling to instate rival Fairfield Wednesday afternoon, 4-1, from the Manchester Raquet Club. The match was contested in the championship clinch format. The Huskies are now 2-7 on the season.
The Huskies got doubles play started with a win at #1 by the team of senior Jacob Spreyer (Denver, Colo.) and sophomore Christopher Toner (South Hamilton, Mass.). The duo posted an 8-4 win over Cameron Amyot and Ofir Solomon. The Stags answered and posted matching 8-6 wins at the #2 and #3 spots to take the doubles point.
In singles action, UConn freshman Jonathan Edwards (Isle of Palms, S.C.) tied the match at 1-1 by winning his #6 singles bout with Luke Lemieux, 6-4 and 6-1. The Stags again answered and registered wins at #1, #2 and #4 singles to clinch the match 4-1. UConn's Zac McEntee (Yorba Linda, Calif.) lost a three-set battle at #4, losing to George Tioutine 6-1, 3-6 and 6-2.
UConn is back in action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to regional opponent Brown.
