BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Competing for the first time in over two weeks, the UConn women's cross country team grabbed a 29th-place finish at the 2016 Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh, on Saturday, Oct. 1 in Bethlehem, Pa.
UConn finished the 6K women's gold race with 846 team points, taking 29th out of 45 teams with an average time of 21:58. Yale was the meet's top finisher, securing a win with 92 total points and a 20:30 average team finish.
Sophomore Ericka Randazzo was the first Husky to cross the finish line, grabbing a 90th-place individual finish with a time of 21:18. Next up, Mary Monda Oewel placed 132nd with a result of 21:39 and teammate Haley Hasty took 153rd with a mark of 21:48. Alana Pearl (22:26), Lindsey Kane (22:35), Hannah Parker (22:37), and Hannah Fleming (22:38) each registered a top-250 finish in the national even.
"We had some bright spots today with Erica, Haley and Mary Monda," said Husky head coach J.J. Clark. "We hare piecing the team together as we move through the season. We are working through some injuries and I anticipate having the full team running together within the next two meets."
