Complete 2016 Schedule
STORRS, Conn. - With the fall season rapidly approaching, UConn women's cross country head coach J.J. Clark announced the Huskies' 2016 schedule on Wednesday.
UConn, which took third in its conference meet a season ago, will kick off its campaign on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Minutemen Invitational in Amherst, Mass. A season ago, the Huskies captured first-place at the event, averaging 18:07.20 seconds as a team in the 5K race, which was over 14 seconds better than the nearest competitor.
Less than a week later, Connecticut heads to historic Franklin Park in Boston to compete at the 2016 Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, scheduled for Sept. 16 at 9 a.m. The Huskies will look to improve on a 12th-place finish from 2015.
Next up, the Huskies travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to participate in the 43rd annual Paul Short Run, set to commence on Oct. 1. In 2015, Connecticut grabbed a fourth-place finish at the meet, paced by a second-place 6K finish from Emily Durgin. The team continues its fall schedule a week later at the New England Championships (Oct. 8) in Boston, before heading to Warwick, R.I. for the Rothenburg Run (Oct. 14) and its final tune-up prior to the conference meet.
Connecticut searches for a conference title on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Cincinnati at The American championship before beginning NCAA action on Nov. 11 at the NCAA Northeast qualifier in Boston.
