Joe Jones, BU Head Coach:
On his team's play.
"We have a hard time maintaining any level of toughness or consistency as the game goes on. We just don't have enough fight. Ollie has these UConn guys playing really hard and it showed as they outplayed us in all aspects of the game."
Kevin Ollie, UConn Head Coach:
On the UConn bench.
"I was very proud of our bench coming in and putting up 47 points for us. Vital really played a great game; he not only had 30 points but he had seven deflections. He was all over the place."
On Vital's play.
"He played really hard, I think he came out there after we had a good talk in my office and everything he said in my office, that's what he did. I am very proud of him."
On his team's three-point shooting.
"If you look at our percentage we should not be shooting 16 three's in the first half. When we are shooting 30 three's in a game, that is not what I want to do, that's not my style of basketball."
Redshirt junior guard/forward Terry Larrier
On their confidence.
"I think it being a whole new group, we're close knit and we have leadership on the team, me, [junior guard] Jalen [Adams], [redshirt freshman guard] Alterique [Gilbert], just keeping the guys composed and just playing through it and getting through it."
On their depth.
"It says a lot. Even if some of the starters aren't bringing it, we've got a guy on the bench that could come in and play big minutes and help so it's really good."
Sophomore guard Christian Vital
On tonight in comparison to the first two games.
"Definitely. I was in a little bit of a slump the first two games, stats don't lie, but I was able to just relax, sit down, talk with my support system, talk to god a little bit too. Just focus on the right things to get my mind back on track and then I was able to help the team tonight."
On meeting with head coach Kevin Ollie.
"We just had a little conversation just to talk about how to get me out of the slump and how to help the team, how to get wins because that's why we're both here, that's what we want to do and it looks like it paid off."
On his first couple of shots.
"I think I was like okay, I got one and then I missed the next couple so I was like let me get to the basket. I felt like I had an advantage on my guy and then I was able to get to the basket a few times. Then after I saw the ball going in I was like alright I feel back in my groove I feel like myself again and then I was able to finish the game up."
On going to Portland.
"That was our first lead like that when we won by a big margin so I think it was great for us as a team knowing that we don't have to have a tough game every game and if we have the ability to finish a team in the first half, let's do it and let's not let them come back."
Graduate student guard Antwoine Anderson
On what they need to improve.
"The biggest thing is that we have to learn that our defense is going to create our offense and if we get stops and we get rebounds we can get on transitions and be the athletic team that we are."
On sparking the team.
"Just going into the half, not just up three we were up six, I definitely like the ball in those situations. I'm just very confident and I believe in myself."
On teammate Christian Vital.
"What I told him last game was that in order for you to be the player that you are you're going to have to start with defense. He's an energy guy, exactly how I am and as soon as he got a couple deflections and a couple steals that motivated him and kicked in his offensive game."
