Host Tulane and Memphis
STORRS, Conn.—The Huskies return to Gampel Pavilion for a pair of games against conference foes Tulane and Memphis.
Friday, Oct. 19th
UConn (11-9, 3-4 AAC) will kick off the weekend against Tulane (15-7, 3-4 AAC) at 7:00 p.m. Head Coach Jim Barnes is in his third season at the helm. Barnes is assisted by Associate Head Coach Brian Yale, third season, and Sarah Strasner, first season. Tulane returns five of their starters while only losing two. The 2018 roster welcomed five newcomers including an addition of a libero.
These two teams met for the first time in 2006 and have continued the duel since. The series history leans in favor of UConn with Tulane behind 6-3. During last season's campaign the teams split the series 1-1 with UConn taking the first victory 3-1 and Tulane responding, narrowly with a 3-2 win.
Tulane is deadlocked with UConn in the American Athletic Conference standings, as both teams have matching conference records. Tulane enters the contest on a three game winning streak.
Special marketing events for this match are: "White out the wave." Fans and spectators are encouraged to wear white!
Sunday, Oct. 21st
Before coming to Connecticut, Memphis will travel to Philadelphia to take on Temple. Head Coach Sean Brudette enters his first season leading the Tigers and eighth overall season coaching. He is assisted by Associate Head Coach James Onikeku and Assistant Alexa Wharton. Brudette retained two starters and lost four. Memphis has a total of six newcomers with their top returners being; Hannah Flowers, Kelsea Bivins, Kate Hoerdemann, and Mady Ruhlman.
Memphis sits at No. 10 in the AAC with an overall record of 9-10 and conference record of 2-5, as of Oct. 15th. The All-Time series belongs to UConn with six victories and five losses. The Huskies swept last season's series with scores of 3-1 and 3-2.
Special marketing events for this match are; "Go 4 the Goal" as well as Breast Cancer Awareness. The team will wear gold laces to support the foundation that provides supportive services to children and their families. The team will also wear pink warmups to honor breast cancer awareness month.

This past week in Husky volleyball…
UConn went 1-1 over the weekend in their matches against USF and UCF, respectively. In the match against USF, UConn nabbed a comeback win by forcing a decisive fifth set. The Huskies edged out the Bulls in four different categories points (82), kills (69), assists (67), and digs (59). Freshman Caylee Parker led both teams in kills at 25. Senior Emma Turner continues to pile on assists, dishing out 43. Redshirt-freshman Courtney Morris joined in the assist action with 10 of her own and senior Elizabeth Kline added nine. Three UConn players garnered double-digits kills; Kline, Parker, and Turner. This victory evened the overall series with the Bulls at 10-10.
The Huskies started out strong against the Knights of UCF, taking the opening set 25-18. Freshman Kennadie Jake-Turner had herself a night, setting a new season high in kills at 11 and adding five blocks. Parker and fellow freshman Anna Petrova aided in UConn's efforts by adding 19 kills collectively. Sophomore Isabelle Peterson nabbed three aces. Morris and Turner had double-digit assists as Kline continued her double-digit digs.
