UConn Golfers Finish Sixth At Firestone

Hervol Registers Third Straight Top 10 Finish
AKRON, Ohio – Senior co-captain Jimmy Hervol (Hopkinton, Mass.) recorded his third Top 10 finish in as many events this season and the 16th Top 10 of his career, earning a tie for seventh place at the Firestone Invitational, which ended Tuesday at the Firestone Country Club North Course.
Hervol shot a 3-under 72-68-73=213, and was second in the field with 15 birdies, leading UConn to a sixth-place finish. It marked the 20th sub-70 round of Hervol's career and hiked his number of par-or-better rounds to 47. The 90-player field was topped by Ohio's Zach Crawford with a 10-under 206.
UConn shot an aggregate 1-over 278-288-299=865 in the 17-team event, which was won by host school Akron at 7-under, one shot better than runner-up Furman. The Huskies were two shots away from a Top Five finish.
Also for UConn, redshirt junior Drake Hull (Rutland, Vt.) notched a tie for 22nd place with a 1-over 67-77-73=217, which included the lowest round of his college career, his seventh sub-70 round and his 21st round of par or better.
Senior Nick Harrington (Chaplin, Conn.) finished in a tie for 39th place with a 4-over 73-73-74=220, senior Nabeel Khan (Westerville, Ohio) was in a tie for 52nd place with a 7-over 68-73-82=223, including his ninth sub-70 round, and redshirt junior Zach Iannone (Hamden, Conn.) was in a tie for 56th place with an 8-over 71-74-79=224, including his seventh round of par or better.
UConn will return to action on Oct. 7-9, when it is the host school for the 13-team UConn Invitational at GreatHorse, a name change for the former Connecticut Cup, being held for the first time at GreatHoerse in Hampden, Mass.
