STORRS, Conn. - The script didn't go according to plan on Sunday afternoon at Morrone Stadium as the UConn women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day and its final game at Morrone Stadium. The Huskies wanted to send the Stadium out in style but instead Tulsa knocked off the Huskies 3-0 in front of 1161 fans and alumni.
UConn commemorated the careers of five seniors; Emily Costanzo, Kim Urbanek, Heidi Druehl, Liane Keegans and Elena Santos prior the the match.
The Golden Hurricane quickly took control in the cold, windy conditions by putting two tallies on the board in the first twenty minutes and entered the halftime break down a pair of goals.
The Huskies came out in the second half and controlled the majority of possession but were unable to convert on any of their opportunities.
UConn finished the game leading in shots, 13-10, and corner kicks, 7-4, but were shut out for the seventh time this season.
As part of the final game at Morrone festivities, the Huskies honored a large group of alumni back onto the field during halftime.
The loss knocked the Huskies out of the contention to play in The American Athletic Conference tournament, so the Huskies will close the 2018 season on the road at Temple (Oct. 25) and at ECU (Oct. 28).
