Multiple Goal Performance Earns Mbacke Thiam AAC Player of the Week Honors

STORRS, Conn. – Senior forward Abdou Mbacke Thiam was tabbed the AAC Player of the Week, as announce by the conference office this afternoon. Mbacke Thiam tallied seven (7) points, helping lead UConn to a 2-0 week.
In Tuesday night's win over Boston College, Mbacke Thiam scored a goal at 28:20 off an assist from Josh Burnett to put UConn up 1-0 and then assisted on UConn's next goal, teaming up with Josh Burnett for the second time.
Saturday's contest against AAC foe Temple featured two (2) Abdou Mbacke Thiam goals. Mbacke Thiam tallied the equalizer on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute and followed that up with the game winner in minute 88 – Off a lob pass from goalie Austin Aviza, a streaking Mbacke Thiam launched a high-arching shot that sailed over the 6'9 Temple goalie and nestled into the back of the net, giving the Huskies a 2-1 victory over the Owls.
The two goals were Thiam's 10th and 11th, moving him up 9th in points (96) and a tie for sixth in goals (42) in the UConn record books.
