Women’s Lacrosse Announces 2019 Spring Lineup

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's lacrosse team has unveiled its complete, 17-game schedule for the 2019 campaign. The Huskies will host seven regular-season contests at the Sherman Family Complex while hitting the road for 10 matches. After spending the past five seasons as a member of the Big East conference, the Huskies will have a new home for conference play, as the American Athletic Conference begins its inaugural season for women's lacrosse.
"I'm excited for the 2019 season, said ninth-year head coach Katie Woods. "We have a competitive schedule that will definitely test us from the start. With this being the inaugural year of AAC lacrosse, we want to be battle tested and ready to compete for an AAC championship once we get to our conference schedule."
UConn's spring clip is challenging throughout, as the Huskies will face four teams that finished the season ranked in the top-20, with two of those squads advancing to the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies open up the season on the road for their first three contests, including the season opener at Syracuse on Friday, Feb. 8 before battling it out against defending National Champion JMU at the US Lacrosse Facility Feb. 17. UConn one of the Ivy League's premier teams, Dartmouth, on Wednesday, March 6 and entertains NCAA third-round and AAC foe Florida on Saturday, April 20.
In addition to hosting the Gators and Big Green, the Huskies welcome five other opponents to the Sherman Family Complex. The home opener is slated for Feb. 24 against New Hampshire.
The Huskies welcome Cincinnati in their conference home opener on March 30. Senior day will be held on Saturday, April 20 against Florida, with the regular season concluding with a road game at ECU on April 27.
The 2019 American Athletic Conference Championship will include the top four teams in the standings, with the semifinals slated for May 2 and the Championship Game on May 4. Location of the AAC Tournament is TBD.
