No. 3 Huskies to face Providence, No. 5 Princeton

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 3 UConn field hockey team (10-1, 3-0 BIG EAST) is back in action this weekend for a pair of games. The Huskies travel to Providence (7-5, 2-1 BIG EAST) Friday at 6 p.m. before hosting No. 5 Princeton (8-3, 2-0 Ivy League) Sunday at noon for Senior Day.
Senior Day
Before facing Princeton, UConn will honor its five seniors: Amanda Collins, Amelia Iacobucci, Cecile Pieper, Ashley Rich and Julia Russo. The group has helped the Huskies compile a 78-4 record in four season. The team has won the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles in each season. The senior class has also competed in the NCAA Tournament final four in their three seasons in Storrs.
Last Time Out
The Huskies fell to then-No. 3 Maryland, 4-2, last Sunday. Cecile Pieper scored twice for UConn. Cheyenne Sprecher finished the game with a career-high nine saves.
Scouting the Friars
Providence beat UMass, 1-0, last Sunday. This year, Allyson Parker and Izzy Mendez are tied for the team lead with six goals each while Parker paces the Friars with 16 points. Lydia Rice has played every game in goal and holds a 1.39 goals-against average and .737 save percentage.
In 2017, the Huskies and Friars faced off twice. UConn picked up a 2-0 win in the regular season and a 3-0 win the BIG EAST Tournament semifinals.
Scouting the Tigers
Princeton is coming off a 3-1 win vs. No. 23 Boston University. This season, Sophia Tornetta and Clara Roth are tied with six goals and 15 points each to lead the Tigers. Grace Baylis has played every minute in goal and holds a 1.59 goals-against average and .588 save percentage.
Last season, UConn beat Princeton, 5-3. The Tigers advanced to the quarterfinals in the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
