Huskies Lead After First Round of UConn Invite

Hervol, Hull Part Of Four-Way Tie For First
HAMPDEN, Mass. --- Senior Jimmy Hervol (Hopkinton, Mass.) and redshirt junior Drake Hull (Rutland, Vt.) each shot an even-par 72 to lead the UConn golf team into first place after the first round of the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse on Sunday.
The Huskies shot an aggregate 6-over 294 to build a four-shot lead over Hartford in the 13-team tournament. Sacred Heart and Lafayette were tied for third, seven strokes behind host school UConn. The tournament continues with 18 holes on Monday and concludes with a final 18 on Tuesday at GreatHorse in Hampden, Mass.
The course proved difficult on Sunday as none of the 84 players in the field were able to shoot under par. Hervol and Hull were part of a four-way tie at the top of the leaderboard with Sacred Heart's Saptak Talwar and Cornell's Tianyi Cen.
Also for the Huskies, redshirt sophomore Chandler Morris (Hobe Sound, Fla.) shot a 2-over 74 to tie for 10th place, senior Nick Harrington (Chaplin, Conn.) tied for 24th with a 4-over 76, and junior Tim Umphrey (Northborough, Mass.) tied for 58th place with a 7-over 79.
Huskies playing as individuals include Zach Iannone (Hamden, Conn.), who tied for 10th with a 2-over 74, sophomore Finn Boynton (Milford, Conn.), who shot a 4-over 76 to tie for 24th place, freshman Nick Hampoian (North Reading, Mass.), who shot a 5-over 77 to tie for 38th place, sophomore Rodrigo Sanchez (Santo Domingto, D.R.) and sophomore Jack Boulger (Walpole, Mass.), who were part of a tie for 47th place with 6-over 78s, and senior Blake Kelley, who tied for 79th place with an 11-over 83.
