No. 12 Men’s Soccer Set for Tuesday Night Game against Sacred Heart

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team (6-2-1) returns to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. where they will face the Sacred Heart Pioneers. It will be Huskies and Heroes night, so all current and former military members will receive free admission into the game with a military ID.

Heading into the Matchup…
- The Huskies catapulted twelve spots in the Top Drawer Soccer top-25 poll and now sit at No. 12. The team is also receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll.
- UConn ranks No. 13 in the NCAA Men's Soccer RPI
- The Huskies and Pioneers will meet on the pitch for the first time since 2005. UConn leads the all-time series with Sacred Heart 2-0-0.
- Abdou Mbacke Thiam is the AAC career goals leader (10) and has tallied a league-best 38 goals during his career.
- Jacob Hauser-Ramsey won his second-straight (and third overall) AAC Defensive Player of the week award. His contributions on the backline helped limit the Cincinnati offense to just five shot attempts on the night. Abdou Mbacke Thiam and Steffen Yeates earned AAC Honor Roll selections.
Last Time Out…
The Huskies shutout Cincinnati Saturday, Oct. 6 at Morrone Stadium. After a scoreless first half, UConn tallied three second-half goals to run away with the win. Abdou Mbacke Thiam (56') netted the first goal – his seventh of the season – and then Cole Venner (79') and Steffen Yeates (89) added their first-career goals to finish off the Bearcats. The Husky defense put a stranglehold on the Cincinnati offense, limiting them to just five shot attempts.

Ray Reid leads the Huskies in his 22nd season as the head coach. A four-time National Coach of the Year and National Champion, Reid boasts the second highest winning percentage (.745) among active coaches.
Next Up...
UConn travels to Orlando, Fla. to face UCF in a Friday afternoon contest. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m., with the game being broadcast on ESPNU.
