Men’s Soccer Team Earns At-Large Bid to 2018 NCAA Tournament

STORRS, Conn. – For the 18th time in the last 21 seasons, the UConn men's soccer team will continue its season in the NCAA Tournament after receiving and at-large bid into the 2018 competition during Monday's selection show, which was broadcast on NCAA.com. The Huskies return to the tournament after a two-year hiatus, and will play the University of Rhode Island in a First Round match on Thursday, Nov. 15 at Pratt and Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET
UConn advanced to the American Athletic Conference semifinal game over the weekend at the UCF Soccer and Track Stadium in Orlando, Fla. before falling in the final 15 seconds to UCF, 3-2, in a hard fought, double-overtime tilt.
The Huskies enter the tournament with an overall record of 11-5-2, an RPI of 24 and are ranked as one of the top-50 scoring offenses (in the NCAA) with a 1.67 goals per game average. Additionally, senior captain Abdou Mbacke Thiam is tied for seventh in the NCAA with 14 goals scored on the year.
