Huskies Ready for NCAA First Round Match versus Rhode Island

STORRS, Conn. – After a two-year hiatus, the UConn men's soccer team is back in the big dance! The Huskies will open up tournament play with a first round tilt against New England rival Rhode Island on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. The game match will be played at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.

Opponent and Series History…
- UConn and URI are tied 3-3 in the all-time series between the east coast foes. The two squads were scheduled to play earlier this season (Sept. 11), but the match was cancelled due to inclemet weather conditions.
- URI enters with a 15-4 overall record. The Rams secured the automatic bid after knocking off George Mason, 2-0, in the Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship game. The Rams are led by Domiki Richter, who has tallied nine goals, five assists, and 23 points on the year. Pedar Kristiansen leads the team with seven assists.
- Goalkeeper Roger Penske sports a record of 13-4 and averages a GAA of 0.97.

Leading the Pack...
Ray Reid leads the Huskies in his 22nd season as the head coach. A four-time National Coach of the Year and National Champion, Reid boasts the highest winning percentage (.744) among active coaches. Reid needs just two victories to reach the 300 career-win mark at UConn and is six wins away from 450 career successes.
