Kline & Turner, Duo named to AAC Weekly Awards

STORRS, Conn.—The red-hot Huskies are riding a two-game winning streak against formidable American Athletic Conference opponents and have garnered their first outright Player of the Week this season—Defensive—in senior libero/defensive specialist Elizabeth Kline. She is joined on the weekly announcement by fellow senior setter Emma Turner, who has enjoyed this honor for a second time this season.
Kline is currently on a streak of her very own at nine-games with double-digit digs, and tabbed her ninth match of the season with 20-plus digs in a match against Tulsa on Friday, Nov. 16th. She posted her season high in digs in this same match at 27. During the weekend sweep versus the Tulsa Golden Hurricane and Shockers of Wichita State, she had 41 digs, a service ace, six assists, and 6.83 digs per set.
Kline was previously named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll for the week of Nov. 5th for her performance against UCF and USF to open the month of November. In addition to that recognition her 1,000th career dig also came in the match against UCF on Thursday, Nov. 1st. In NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball, she is No. 106 in total digs.
Turner nabbed her 14th double-double on Sunday, Nov. 18 in the match against Wichita State at 30 assists and 17 digs. During the three-set back-to-back victories, she posted 12 kills, a .571 hitting percentage, no attack or receiving errors, a pair of service aces, 59 assists, 25 total digs, and a block. Specifically, she tabbed 2 kills per set, 9.83 assists per set, 4.17 digs per set, and 2.42 points per set.
Turner is now a two-time AAC Weekly Honor Roll member, being earlier recognized on Oct. 1st. She is No. 4 in school history for career assists—now 3,346. In NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball, she is No. 136 in assists per set and No. 82 in total assists.

"Kline helped the Huskies achieve their first weekend sweep since August, anchoring the back row with 6.83 digs per set. Kline has reached double-digit digs in nine-consecutive matches and bumped 27 against Tulsa in a sweep victory on Friday. She returned to the court Sunday and had 14 digs in a second-straight 3-0 victory against Wichita State."
"Averaging 9.83 assists per set, Turner also scored on 12 kills without an error, registering a .571 hitting percentage through the Huskies' weekend sweep. Turner had 29 assists, eight digs and dumped six kills against Tulsa and added another 30 assists, six kills and 17 digs for a double-double against Wichita State. UConn hit .300 in the win over the Shockers to complete a 2-0 weekend."
