Huskies Start Strong, Lose at Tulsa, 49-19

TULSA, Okla. - The UConn football team got off to a great start on Saturday night at Tulsa but ultimately lost to the Golden Hurricane, 49-19.
UConn (1-8, 0-5) built a 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter after an 80-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback David Pindell to senior wideout Kyle Buss. The Huskies capitalized on the touchdown after Tyler Coyle recovered a fumble in the end zone as the Golden Hurricane were primed to get on the scoreboard.
The Huskies tacked onto their only lead on a 44-yard field goal from Michael Tarbutt to create the double-digit advantage. Tarbutt added a 50-yard field goal in the second quarter for the Huskies.
Tulsa scored touchdowns on its next seven possessions to blow the game open in the third quarter, 49-13.
Kyle Buss hauled in a career-high 129 yards on six receptions while David Pindell rushed for 100 yards or more for the fifth time this season. The quarterback finished the game with 150 yards on the ground.
The Huskies scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter on a three-yard pass from Pindell to tight end Tyler Davis.
UConn returns to Pratt and Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field next Saturday, Nov. 10 against SMU at noon on ESPN3/WatchESPN.
