DECATUR, Ga. - The Huskies regrouped after a season opening loss to Kennesaw State with a 10-1 victory against Georgia State on Saturday afternoon at the GSU Baseball Complex.
UConn (1-1) collected a season-high 15 hits and 10 runs in the contest. The Huskies grabbed their first lead of the season in the top of the third after senior Troy Stefanski drove in Moriarty from third with an RBI single.
2017 American Athletic Conference Rookie Pitcher of the Year Mason Feole fired four hitless innings to open the ballgame. The Wakefield, R.I. native dealt with a bit of adversity in the fifth. After retiring the first two batters, Feole looked like he had gotten out of the inning on a borderline strike three call but the home plate umpire ruled ball four. After a balk, Kendall Ford recorded the Panthers first hit of the game, an RBI double, to knot the game, 1-1. Feole buckled down and registered a fly out to keep the game tied.

The Husky offense picked up their pitcher in the sixth inning with a four-run, six-hit frame. Michael Woodworth and Anthony Prato kicked off the frame with back-to-back singles. With one out and runners at the corners, Isaac Feldstein shot an RBI single into right field to make it 2-1 Huskies.
Newcomers, freshman Christian Fedko and junior Thad Phillips, extended the lead to 5-1 with an RBI double and two-run single, respectively.
Feole took full advantage of the run support, pitching seven innings, allowing just one hit and striking out seven.
Meanwhile, the UConn offense continued to tack onto the lead with a run in the seventh and another four-spot in the ninth inning. Five Huskies recorded multi-hit efforts in the 15-hit barrage.
Freshman Colby Dunlop closed out the ballgame with two scoreless innings of work in his collegiate debut. The UConn pitching staff combined to allow just three hits to the Panthers.
UConn finishes up the Atlanta Challenge on Sunday, Feb. 18 at Georgia Tech with first pitch at 1 p.m. The game can be viewed online on the ACC Network Extra (ESPN3) or on 91.7 FM WHUS/ fm.whus.org.
