No. 2 Huskies Best No. 11 Old Dominion, 4-2

NORFOLK, Va. – Redshirt senior back Cecile Pieper led the Huskies with two goals as the No. 2 UConn field hockey team (8-0, 2-0 BIG EAST) defeated No. 11 Old Dominion (7-1, 1-1), 4-2, Friday evening.
The win over the Monarchs was UConn's fifth over a ranked opponent so far this season.
Goalkeeper Cheyenne Sprecher started the game with a pair of saves before junior Svea Boker took a pass from Amanda Collins and scored at 2:56. The Huskies had four penalty corner opportunities in the half, including three straight in the last minute.
Old Dominion tied the game 3:55 into the second half, but Pieper scored her first of the game off a penalty corner at 40:01. Less than a minute later, she scored again with a low shot to the corner of the cage.
Sophomore Jessica Dembrowski picked up a rebound in a post-corner scramble and found the back of the goal at 46:01. The Monarchs notched a goal off a penalty corner with two second left, but UConn ended the game with a 4-2 lead.
Sprecher finished the game with four saves. The Huskies held a 21-8 advantage in goals and an 11-4 lead in corners.
The Huskies are back in action at William & Mary (3-3) Sunday at noon.
