STORRS, Conn. – Four Huskies had four points each as the No. 2 UConn field hockey team (10-0, 3-0 BIG EAST) blanked Temple (2-8, 0-3), 7-0, Friday evening at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.

Redshirt senior Cecile Pieper and freshman Abby Gooderham each scored twice while junior Antonia Tiedtke and senior Amanda Collins tallied one goal and two assists each. Maddy Wray also scored for the Huskies.

UConn had 15 penalty corner opportunities, which resulted in three goals.

After a quiet first 15 minutes, Tiedtke started the scoring with a rebound off the goalkeeper at 15:49. Gooderham scored off a corner at 26:27, and Pieper added another goal off a corner at 33:02. The Huskies took a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Pieper drove into the middle of the circle and scored again at 42:30. Wray tipped in a shot from Amelia Iacobucci. Collins was able to collect the ball in the middle of a scrum and score at 53:31. Gooderham notched the final goal at 57:22.

With mostly reserves in at the end of the game, the Huskies were still able to keep the shutout, even as the Owls had five corners in the last 10 minutes.

Goalkeeper Cheyenne Sprecher notched three saves. In relief, Abby Lucas tallied one save. Sprecher and the Huskies tallied their fifth shutout of the season.

The Huskies held a 32-10 advantage in shots and a 15-6 lead in penalty corners.

The Huskies return to action in Storrs on Sunday against No. 3 Maryland (10-0) at noon. The game is a rematch of the 2017 NCAA Championship game, which UConn won 2-1.
