MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Playing on the road for only the second time this season, the UConn men's soccer team shutout the Memphis Tigers, 2-0 Friday night.
The first half displayed scoring opportunities for both teams. UConn (5-2-1) came out of the gates hot, firing multiple shots within the first 15 minutes of action. Despite the early threat, the Huskies headed into the halftime break tied at 0.
The Huskies took control of the game in the second half as they got things rolling early. Just over a minute into the second half, Dayonn Harris drilled a shot through the low side from the top of the box to put UConn ahead 1-0.
Memphis attempted to respond with goals of their own, driving the ball into Huskie territory. UConn's defense prevailed, however, turning away every opportunity for the Tigers to even the score. The Huskies put the game away for good with a goal in the waning seconds from Ibrahima Diop.
