UConn Faces Pair of SEC Opponents in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The UConn women's soccer team (1-5) jumps on a plane for the first time this season to play a pair of SEC schools with a Friday, Sept. 7 matchup vs. Ole Miss (5 p.m. EST) and a Sunday, Sept. 9 tilt at Arkansas (2 p.m.). Sunday's tilt will be stream on SEC Network Plus.
The Huskies knocked off Arkansas in thrilling fashion, 2-1, in double overtime on a Kess Elmore golden goal. Alexa Casimiro tallied a goal in the triumph, the first for UConn against an SEC opponent since 2002.
UConn is 5-4 all-time against the Southeastern Conference with a 1-0 mark against the Razorbacks. Friday will be the first meeting all-time between UConn and Ole Miss on the pitch.
The trip to Fayetteville, Ark. is the first time the women's soccer team will play in the state of Arkansas in the program's 39-year history.
UConn enters the weekend on a three-match losing streak to push their record to 1-5 on the season. The Huskies have been shut out in all three contests during the skid.
Ole Miss is 5-1 overall and is receiving votes in the latest NSCAA Top 25 poll. CeCe Kizer leads the Rebels with seven goals and 16 points while the team is outscoring opponents 21-5.
The Razorbacks are 2-1-1 this season and are coming off a double overtime loss to McNeese State. Marissa Kinsey leads Arkansas with two goals this season.
