STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team suffered their first setback of the season, falling in the home opener to UNH, 2-0, Friday night at Freitas Ice Forum.
The conference matchup was an extremely physical one as the teams combined for 12 total penalties – six apiece. Natalie Snodgrass led the UConn offense with five shots on-goal while Morgan Wabick and Briana Colangelo added three of their own. Junior netminder Morgan Fisher collected 26 saves in the loss.
After a defensive first period that produced a combined eight shot attempts, the scoring would take place in the second and third period. The Wildcats got goals from Ellie Sasaki (2nd – 16:39) and Jada Christian (3rd – 15:40) on the way to victory.
Wabick and Snodgrass had the Huskies best scoring opportunities of the night, but both of their shots from the point deflected off the pipe and away the net.
