STORRS, Conn. – The UConn volleyball team fell to the ECU Pirates 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Gampel Pavilion. The Huskies (8-10, 2-4 American) drop their third straight conference game. The Pirates improve to 14-5 and 2-4 in conference play.
How it Happened
The Huskies fell behind early in the first set. Down 14-7, UConn battled back to cut the ECU lead to 20-16. The Pirates held their lead late in the set and won 25-20. The second set saw the Huskies take an early 5-1 lead before ECU stormed back. The teams exchanged points in back and forth action until the Pirates gained momentum and took a 19-15 lead. They would go on to win the tightly contested second set 25-22. The third and final set began with UConn jumping out to another early 5-2 lead. That lead, however, did not hold. The Pirates clawed back and the teams were even at 11-11. A few attack errors led to ECU taking a 17-11 lead. The Pirates would go on to win the set 25-15, completing the match sweep.
Freshman Jasmine Davis led the Husky offense with eight kills and added seven digs. R-Junior Genna Florig hit at a team-high .333, recording six kills and two blocks. Sophomore Kennadie Jake-Turner and Freshman Allie Garland each tallied five kills, two digs, and three blocks. Junior Ally Barrett added five kills of her own with 13 digs and one block. R-Sophomore Courtney Morris had a team-high 28 assists and added three kills and two digs.

The Huskies hit the road for American Conference matchups against Memphis and Southern Methodist. UConn will take on Memphis Friday, October 18th at 8pm (ET) before heading to Dallas to take on SMU on Sunday, October 20th at 2pm (ET).
