Sprecher Earns NFHCA Defensive POTW Honors

GILBERT, Ariz. – UConn field hockey goalkeeper Cheyenne Sprecher was selected as the Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the association Wednesday.
Sprecher posted two shutouts last weekend. In a 3-0 BIG EAST win over Providence, the Palmyra, Pa., native notched eight saves. She followed up with four saves in a 3-0 win over then-No. 11 Delaware.
Sprecher was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. This is her second NFHCA Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
The redshirt sophomore ranks second nationally with a .790 goals-against average and leads the nation with a .861 save percentage.
The third-ranked Huskies travel to Villanova Friday at 3 p.m. before returning home to host No. 15 Syracuse on Sunday at 1 p.m.
