No. 3 Huskies to Take on Villanova, No. 15 Syracuse

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 3 UConn field hockey team (12-2, 4-0 BIG EAST) travels to Villanova (6-6, 1-3) Friday at 3 p.m. before hosting No. 15 Syracuse (8-4) Sunday at 1 p.m.
Sprecher Earns Weekly Honors
Redshirt sophomore Cheyenne Sprecher was named the BIG EAST and NFHCA National Defensive Player of the Week. Sprecher made 12 total saves in two shutouts last weekend vs. Providence and No. 10 Delaware.
Sprecher currently ranks No. 1 in the nation in save percentage (.861) and No. 2 in goals-against average (0.79).
Last Time Out
UConn blanked No. 10 Delaware, 3-0, on Sunday. Senior Svea Boker, freshman Claire Jandewerth and junior Kourtney Kennedy each scored vs. the Blue Hens. Cheyenne Sprecher made four saves in the game. UConn moved to 8-2 vs. ranked opponents this season.
Beasts of the BIG EAST
UConn has won 36 straight BIG EAST regular season games, dating back to the 2013 season. The Huskies have won six straight BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles. UConn was picked as the preseason favorite to win the conference title again this season.

UConn holds at No. 3 in the latest NFHCA Coaches Poll. The No. 15 Orange are the 11th ranked opponent for the Huskies this season.
Scouting the Wildcats
Villanova is coming off a 2-0 weekend with a 2-1 win over Quinnipiac and an 8-3 win over La Salle. Lydia Sydnor leads the Wildcats with 15 goals, five assists and 31 points. Riley Dolan also has five assists. Jordan McGinley has started every game in goal and holds a 3.43 goals-against average and .593 save percentage.
Scouting the Orange
Syracuse went 0-2 last weekend with a 3-2 loss to No. 16 Stanford and a 3-1 loss to No. 1 North Carolina. Charlotte Devries leads the team with 13 goals and 27 points. Sarah Sinck has started in nine and appeared in 11 games this season and holds a 1.68 GAA and a .696 save percentage.
