Huskies Ready for Ice Breaker Challenge

STORRS, Conn. – After four straight league games, the UConn women's hockey team takes a break from Hockey East play and sets its sights on the first ever Ice Breaker Challenge, taking place at The Harbor Center in the Buffalo, N.Y. The Huskies will play Colgate in the first round Friday night at 7:00 pm. UConn will face Minnesota Duluth or Mercyhurst Saturday in either the 3rd Place (4:30 pm) or Championship game (7:00 pm).

What to Know:
- The Huskies went 1-1 over the weekend, falling 2-0 to BU Friday before bouncing back with a 4-3 (OT) victory over Merrimack. Senior captain Briana Colangelo netted two goals, Danika Pasqua added one of her own and Natalie Snodgrass cashed in the golden goal for the Huskies with Taylor Wabick, Catherine Crawley, Emily Reid, Morgan Wabick, Savannah Bouzide and Kaitlyn Yearwood providing the assists.
- The Huskies and Raiders have split the all-time series 5-5-1 with the last matchup taking place in 2015-16 – a 3-3 (OT) draw. Luck hasn't been on UConn's side in the series against the teams on the other side of the bracket. The Huskies are 0-7-1 all-time against Minnesota Duluth while Mercyhurst holds the all-time edge over UConn 7-1-2.
Leading the Pack:
Chris MacKenzie enters his eighth season leading the UConn women's hockey team. MacKenzie has won over 100 games during his time at UConn and has been an instrumental part in turning the program around. In 2015-16, Mackenzie coached UConn to their first winning season since 2010.
