Huskies Back Home to Host Wichita, Tulsa

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn volleyball team returns home to Gampel Pavilion to host Wichita State and Tulsa. The Huskies (8-12, 2-6 American) take on the Shockers on Friday, October 25th at 7:00 pm before hosting the Golden Hurricane on Sunday, October 27th at 12:00 pm.
This Week's Matchups
Wichita State (5-15, 2-6 American) comes to Gampel following a weekend split last time out. The Shockers fell to UCF (3-1) on Friday before bouncing back with a victory over USF (3-0) on Sunday. The win over South Florida snapped a four-game losing skid for the Shockers. The Wichita offense is led by Megan Taflinger, who leads the team with 222 kills and 2.92 kills per set this season. McKayla Wuensch aids the offense with a team-high 391 assists and 5.84 assists per set on the year. The Shocker defense is led by Kara Bown, who has recorded a team-high 236 digs and 3.37 digs per set, and Emma Wright, who leads the team with 58 total blocks this season.
Tulsa (12-9, 5-3 American) enters the weekend after a weekend split of their own last time out. The Golden Hurricane defeated USF (3-0) on Friday before falling to UCF (3-0) on Sunday. Tulsa's offense is led by Dilara Gedikoglu, who has recorded 317 kills and 4.12 kills per set this season. Roosa Rautio's team-high 455 assists and 5.83 assists per set bolster the Hurricane attack. The defense is led by Taylor Horsfall, who has tallied 473 digs and 5.99 digs per set this season. Callie Cook leads the team with 89 total blocks and 1.20 blocks per set this season.
Last Time Out
The Huskies dropped two road conference games last weekend at Memphis (3-2) and Southern Methodist (3-0). Sophomore Caylee Parker led the team with 37 kills and 4.62 kills per set over the weekend. Parker also tallied 21 digs and a total of 39.5 points. Freshman Madi Whitmire recorded a team-high 43 assists and 6.14 assists per set, also adding 14 digs over the weekend. Fellow freshman Mia Ruffolo tallied a team-high 30 digs and 3.75 digs per set, while adding seven assists. R-Sophomore Courtney Morris added 21 assists and 7.00 assists per set, as well as a team-best six total blocks.

UConn will hit the road once again to take on East Carolina and Cincinnati. The Huskies will face the Pirates on Friday, November 1st at 7:00 pm in Greenville. To finish the weekend trip, UConn will play the Bearcats on Sunday, November 3rd at 12:00 pm in Cincinnati.
