Huskies, Hawks Set for Midweek Matchup

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's basketball team continues its early-season homestand by playing host to Saint Joseph's in a midweek contest.
The contest is a campus-site game of the Charleston Classic, a tourney which will be held in Charleston, S.C., on Nov. 21-14. The game is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff and will be televised by the CBS Sports Network.

What to Know
- The Huskies (1-0) opened their season with a non-conference win over Sacred Heart on Nov. 8, and were led by five double-figure scorers: Josh Carlton (18), Christian Vital (17), Brendan Adams (15), Sid Wilson (13), and Tyler Polley (10). Carlton led the rebounders with 8, while Alterique Gilbert handed out 5 assists.
- The Huskies hold a 5-2 advantage over Saint Joseph's all-time. UConn's last meeting against Saint Joseph's was the memorable 89-81 overtime victory in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament in Buffalo, N.Y. A crucial three-point play off an offensive rebound by freshman Amida Brimah sent the game into overtime, where UConn dominated and then went on to win its fourth NCAA national championship.
- Saint Joseph's (1-1), out of the Atlantic 10, started the year with a win over Bradley and a loss at Old Dominion. Lorenzo Edwards (17.5) and Ryan Daly (17.0) lead the Hawks in scoring.
Leading the Pack
Dan Hurley begins his second season as head coach of the UConn men's basketball team. Hurley became the 19th head coach in the history of UConn men's basketball on March 22, 2018. Prior to his hiring, he spent two seasons at Wagner College and six at the University of Rhode Island, and owns a collegiate coaching record of 167- 122 (.578). Hurley made two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2016-17, 2017-18) and was named the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
