Huskies Gear Up for Two Weekend Hockey East Matchups

STORRS, Conn. – UConn women's hockey returns to the ice this weekend for a pair of Hockey East matchups. The Huskies host Vermont Friday at 6 pm at the Freitas Ice Forum, then travel up to Orono, Maine for a 2 pm Sunday afternoon tilt against the Black Bears.
Hockey East has partnered with CBS Sports Digital to begin the 2019-20 season, making all home men's and women's games available on CBS Sports Digital properties. The partnership kicks off with an early-season schedule that includes games provided for free on CBS SportsLive.

What to Know:
- UConn possesses the all-time lead in both series. The Huskies hold a 27-10-5 record against the Catamounts, and lead the all-time series against the Black Bears, 20-11.
- After exploding for six points last week (3g, 3a), junior Natalie Snodgrass earned Hockey East Player of the Week honors and grabbed the top spot in NCAA Hockey's Three Stars of the Week.
- The Huskies (6-4) are coming off a 2-0 week. UConn shutout Brown 7-0 Tuesday night as six different Huskies found the back of the net. Snodgrass led the charge as she scored two goals to go along with three assists. Saturday, the Huskies put together a full 60-minutes to beat No. 5 Boston College 5-2, dealing the Eagles their first loss of the season. Sophomore Viki Harkness recorded a brace against the Eagles, including a late third-period goal to seal the win
- Five players have tallied six points for UConn. Snodgrass paces the team with 12 points (5g, 7a) while senior captain Catherine Crawley has dished out eight assists to go along with two scores of her own.
- Three goaltenders have seen action for UConn, with Morgan Fisher and Samantha Carpentier-Yelle splitting time patrolling the net. Carpentier-Yelle is 4-1 in five starts and leads the team with a 1.21 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage. Fisher has posted a 2-3 mark, a 2.02 goals-against average and .914 save percentage.
- The Catamounts split the weekend in Durham with a pair of close games against UNH. New Hampshire took the first game with a 2-1 victory in overtime on Friday. Humphrey scored the game-winner in a 1-0 victory for the Catamounts as Blanka Škodová registered a 25-save shutout.
- Maine is coming off of a bye week. Most recently, the Black Bears battled #6 Boston College to a 3-3 draw.
Leading the Pack:
Chris MacKenzie enters his eighth season leading the UConn women's hockey team. MacKenzie has won over 100 games during his time at UConn and has been an instrumental part in turning the program around. In 2015-16, Mackenzie coached UConn to their first winning season since 2010.
