PHILADELPHIA - The UConn football team (2-10, 0-8 American) wrapped up the 2019 season with a 49-17Â loss to Temple at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Huskies got off to a great start, scoring on each of their first two drives. Jack Zergiotis capped a four-play, 75 yard opening drive with a 51-yard touchdown pass to senior wide out Ardell Brown.
After a stop on defense, UConn took a 14-0 lead on a Steve Krajewski 2-yard touchdown run. The Huskies entered halftime with a 17-14 lead after a 40-yard field goal from Clayton Harris.
Kevin Mensah made history in the finale with an 11-yard run in the first quarter that pushed him over 1000 rushing yards for the season. The junior became the second UConn player in the history of the program to record back-to-back 1000 yard seasons (Jordan Todman).
Brown hauled in three catches for 85 yards and a score while Rob King returned home to Philly and led the Huskies with 10 tackles.Â
Saturday's contest against the Owls was the final game as a member of the American Athletic Conference, with the team moving to independent status in 2020.
