Top-Seeded Huskies to Face No. 4 Providence in BIG EAST Semis

STORRS, Conn. – The third-ranked and top-seeded UConn field hockey team (16-3, 7-0 BIG EAST) takes on fourth-seeded Providence (12-6, 4-3) in the BIG EAST Championship semifinals Friday at 11 a.m. in Hamden, Conn.
The Huskies are seeking their seventh straight and 18th overall BIG EAST Tournament championship. UConn enters this weekend as the No. 1 seed after winning the regular season title for the seventh straight season.

LAST TIME OUT
UConn concluded the regular season with a 5-1 win over UMass last Sunday. Freshman Claire Jandewerth scored twice vs. the Minutewomen. Freshman Marie Auer, sophomore Maddy Wray and senior Svea Boker each scored once vs. UMass.
BEASTS OF THE BIG EAST
UConn has won 39 straight BIG EAST regular season games, dating back to the 2013 season. The Huskies have won seven straight BIG EAST regular season and six straight tournament titles.
ALUMS QUALIFY FOR OLYMPICS
Former UConn standouts Roisin Upton (Ireland) and Cecile Pieper (Germany) helped their home nations qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics earlier this week. Upton helped Ireland qualify for the country's first-ever Olympics. Pieper, a 2016 bronze medalist, helped the German National Team advance.

The Huskies remain at No. 3 in the latest NFHCA Coaches Poll and No. 4 in the latest NCAA RPI. UConn has played 12 games vs. ranked opponents this season.
