Huskies Blanked on the Road at No. 19 Boston College, 6-0

CHESTNUT HIll, Mass. – Boston College freshman Alex Newhook scored a pair of goals and classmate Spencer Knight stopped all 30 shots he faced as the UConn Huskies suffered a 6-0 loss to the No. 19 nationally ranked Eagles Friday night from Conte Forum.
The Huskies fall to 2-4-1 overall and 1-2-0 in Hockey East with the loss while BC moves to 4-4-0 and 2-2-0 in league. The two teams will close their weekend series on Saturday afternoon from the XL Center in Hartford.
BC scored twice in each period on Friday night and were 1-for-2 on the power play. Newhook's two goal night led the way for BC who also got season-first goals from Connor Moore and Jack McBain.
Moore finished with three points on the night after adding in a pair of assists. Senior David Cotton and junior Logan Hutsko each scored as well in the win.
The Huskies put 30 shots on net but couldn't solve Knight who Knight picke- up his second shutout of the season in the win. The shutout loss was the first this season for UConn and the second in the all-time series with BC.
Sophomore Tomas Vomacka (Trutnov, Czech Republic) made 29 saves in the loss.
1st Period:
The Huskies outshot BC 13-11 in the first but the Eagles put two on the board, both coming off deflected shots in front. The Eagles went up 1-0 at 6:05 as Newhook charged up the left side and threw the puck on net from an impossible angle. Newhook's shot deflected off a UConn defender and snuck past Vomacka trying to recover.
The Eagles scored on their only power play goal of the first period to make it 2-0 at 17:55. Moore took a feed at the high point from Graham McPhee and wound up for a big slap shot. Moore's shot was deflected by a Husky in front again and found the back of the net for a 2-0 BC lead.
2nd Period:
BC took control in the second period putting two more on the scoreboard. Newhook came up with his second on the night at the 6:44 mark. Posted up at the far firth post, Newhook got a redirect of a Marshall Warren shot to make it 3-0.
McBain made it 4-0 at 9:53, using a slick move to cut to the slot area and then whip a shot past Vomacka for his first on the season.
3rd Period:
The Eagles followed with two more in the third period to make it a 6-0 win on the night. Hutsko came up with his third on the season, unassisted at the 5:05 mark. Cotton closed out the scoring at 10:47, punching one in on the doorstep for his fourth of the season.

The Huskies and Eagles will hit the ice again on Saturday afternoon, this time from the XL Center in Hartford. Saturday's game will be a 3:30 puck drop and the game will be available on the NESN TV network.
