History vs. Louisville... UConn is 10-18 all-time against the Cardinals and have not played Louisville since their move to the ACC in 2014-2015.
UConn first played Louisville in the Big East Conference in 2006 and the Cardinals played one season in the American Athletic Conference in 2014.
Louisville swept the Huskies in Kentucky in the program's last meeting in 2014. The last win for UConn came in the 2013 Big East Championship against the No. 8 ranked Cardinals. The Huskies captured an extra inning victory, 3-2, that helped lead UConn to a Big East Tournament Championship.
Huskies vs. Atlantic Coast Conference... UConn is 30-24 against current ACC schools since 2010. UConn has notched wins against Clemson, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh. UConn is set to play Louisville, Virginia and Boston College in 2019.
Huskies vs. Top 25... UConn faces No.4/8 ranked Louisville this weekend in Lakeland, Fla. Last season the Huskies were 8-5 against Top-25 opponents. Under head coach Jim Penders, the Huskies are 41-58-1.
Baseball Conference... The American Conference continues to distinguish itself as one of the top conferences in college baseball. The league was No. 4 in conference RPI ranking in 2018 with eight of the nine teams in the Top 100 of the RPI. Four teams (UConn, ECU, USF & Houston) reached the 2018 NCAA Tournament and ECU hosted an NCAA Regional. UConn nearly hosted a regional but just missed the cut with an RPI at 16.
Road Warriors... The Huskies set a program record with 23 road victories last season. UConn eclipsed their previous school record of 21 road wins back in 2010.
In the Rankings... UConn is ranked in two preseason polls with Collegiate Baseball (32) and NCBWA (35) both including the Huskies in their polls. Last season, UConn was ranked for the majority of the season, spending 14 weeks in the national polls
Program Bests in RPI... The Huskies 23 Top-100 victories and final RPI ranking of 20 set new program records. The Huskies finished the regular season with an RPI at 16, just missing out on hosting an NCAA Regional.
MacDonald's All-Americans... UConn has had a ton of success on the mound under eighth year pitching coach Josh MacDonald. The Huskies have had four-straight seasons with an All-American on the mound and five total since 2015. Carson Cross ('15), Anthony Kay ('16), John Russell ('17), Mason Feole ('18) and P.J. Poulin ('18) all earned All-America honors under Coach Mac. Coach MacDonald is the only pitching coach in the country that has done that with his current program.
Breaking Ground On New Home... UConn broke ground in the fall of 2018 on a new baseball, soccer and softball complex that will change the game for the Huskies. UConn has been able to win despite playing in one of the worst facilities in the country. The stadium should be complete by the 2020 season and will be a game changer for the program. The new stadium will feature lights, player's locker room, turf field surface, coach's offices and pitching and batting tunnel. All amenities the Huskies are without or not located near J.O. Christian Field.
2019 Schedule Highlights...UConn will face another challenging schedule in 2019, playing 37 games against 16 programs that finished 2018 in the Top-100 of the RPI. Additionally, the Huskies face eight teams that reached the 2018 NCAA Tournament
