PROVIDENCE – For the third time in his four-year college basketball career, UConn senior guard Jalen Adams is an all-conference selection.
Despite missing seven games with a late-season knee injury, the coaches of the American Athletic Conference voted Adams (Roxbury, Mass.) onto the All-Conference Third Team, announced on Monday by the league.
Adams, a First Team selection in 2016-17 and a Second Team pick last year, led the Huskies in scoring for the third consecutive season, averaging 16.9 points per game. He is also averaging 3.7 rebounds and is second on the team in assists at 3.3 per game. He is shooting a solid .492 overall and .355 from three-point range and is UConn's top foul shooter with a percentage of .859.
The Huskies had a 13-9 overall record and 4-5 in the American Conference when Adams' knee was injured early in the Feb. 6 game at Temple. Without their star guard, the Huskies lost the game at Temple and dropped their next five games as well.
Adams returned to the lineup for the regular-season finale at ECU on March 10 and produced a double-double of 13 points and 12 assists to lead the Huskies to an 82-73 win. The 12 assists equaled Adams' career-high and was a season-high throughout the entire conference this season.
Adams' career point total of 1,672 ranks 11th on UConn's all-time scoring list and second all-time among American Conference players. His 503 assists rank ninth at UConn and fourth all-time in the AAC.
