Huskies Open American Tournament Play Saturday

STORRS, Conn. – The top-seeded and second-ranked UConn women's basketball team (28-2, 16-0) will face No. 8 ECU (16-14, 6-10) Saturday in the quarterfinals of the 2019 American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship at 2 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN3 and available on the UConn Sports Network from Learfield IMG College.
The Huskies went 16-0 in conference play to earn the No. 1 seed in the tournament. UConn has won the previous five American Conference Tournament titles. The Huskies have won 23 conference tournament championships in program history.
UConn finished the regular season with a 57-47 win at USF Monday. Junior Crystal Dangerfield led the team with 17 points and nine assists as the Huskies came from behind to win. UConn was without senior Katie Lou Samuelson vs. the Bulls.
Seniors Napheesa Collier and Katie Lou Samuelson were named Naismith Trophy semifinalists Monday. UConn is the only program with multiple players on the list.
UConn is 10-0 all-time vs. ECU. The Huskies won the teams' only meeting this season, 118-55, in Hartford on Feb. 6.
