STORRS, Conn.—The UConn women's track and field team will be represented by senior Susan Aneno and junior Divine Oladipo at the 2019 Division I Track and Field Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham CrossPlex beginning Friday, March 8th through Saturday, March 9th.
The pair are two of the 18 total student-athletes from the American Athletic Conference competing at the championships this weekend. The top-16 student-athletes on the NCAA's performance list and top-12 relay teams earned bids to compete in the national meet.
Aneno will compete in the 800 Meter Run. Her top time of the season came at the Vanderbilt Invite when she crossed the finish line at 2:03.94 taking second place. She is currently ranked No. 7 for her tremendous efforts this season, especially after becoming a two-time champion in this event last week at the AAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Oladipo also known as the 2018 Outdoor Northeast Region Field Athlete of the Year, sits at No. 15 in the Shot Put. Her best toss as a Husky and this season came at the Scarlet & White Invite in February where she posted a mark of 16.88m (55'5.5"). Oladipo reclaimed her title as shot put champion at the conference championships last weekend.
Both student-athletes have rewritten UConn school history with their exponential performances during the indoor season. The aforementioned marks for the duo are new school records for the women's track and field program.
ESPN3 will stream the championships live starting at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time on Friday, Mar. 8th and Saturday, Mar. 9th at 5:00 p.m. Eastern. They will also re-air the championship at 10:00 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, Mar. 10th on ESPN2 and again on Monday, Mar. 11th at 10:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPNU. In addition to the stream, the NCAA will provide live results.
