Huskies Drop Road Contest at Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman Lia LaPrise and sophomore Sydney Watson posted four goals each, but UConn women's lacrosse (2-12, 0-2 AAC) fell to Yale, 17-11, in its final non-conference game Wednesday afternoon at Reese Stadium.
Junior Olivia Miles and seniors Dani Dunn and Lexi Kenneally each chipped in one goal apiece for the Huskies, while Miles, LaPrise and Brooke Jensen all contributed assists of their own. Goalkeeper Grace Beshlian racked up 13 saves and two ground balls in the defeat,
Down 5-2 with 11 minutes to go in the half, UConn got its offense going with two straight goals to bring themselves within a point – Olivia Miles worked her way inside and rocketed a shot into the back of the cage at 8:17 and then Sydney Watson followed that up by converting on a free position attempt. Yale opened its lead back to 7-4, but the Huskies got one back off LaPrise's goal, and went into the intermission down two with a bit of momentum.
The home team held a five point advantage at the 19 minute mark, but UConn answered the bell again, using goals from Kenneally (15:04) and Dunn (14:33) to get within three, 12-9.
Yale grabbed complete control of the game with a 4-0 run to open up a 16-9 lead with four minutes to go, pulling away for the 17-11 win.
