Huskies Unveil 2019-20 Schedule

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's hockey team revealed their 2019-20 schedule with 15 home games and 19 games total in the state of Connecticut highlighting this year's slate. The Huskies will once again take part in a pair of in-season tournaments including the debut of Connecticut Ice with state rivals Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart and Yale.

Sixth Season in Hockey East Awaits…
The Huskies will open their sixth season of play in the nation's top-hockey conference with 24 league games on tap. The league's 11 teams will once again battle for a spot in the eight-team postseason tournament capped by championship weekend at TD Garden in Boston on March 20 & 21.
This season, the Huskies will face Maine, Merrimack, Providence and UMass Lowell three times each. UConn will open the 2019-20 Hockey East schedule with a home-and-home series with Merrimack on November 1 & 2 and then host the Warriors a second time on February 7. The Huskies will also play home-and-home series with Providence (Nov. 22/23) and UMass Lowell (Nov. 15/16) and then travel to both in the second half of the season.
UConn will play four times at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport this season and will host the Maine Black Bears there on January 15 before a two-game trip up to Orono on February 14 & 15.
The remaining conference schedule is made up of a two-game home series with Vermont (Dec. 6/7) and home-and-home series with Boston College (Nov. 8/9), Northeastern (Jan. 3/18), New Hampshire (Jan. 31/Feb. 1), Boston University (Feb. 21/22) and UMass (Feb. 28/29).
Connecticut Ice Debuts…
Late January brings a brand new event to the state in the debut of Connecticut Ice, a three-day festival celebrating youth, amateur and collegiate hockey set to take place at the Webster Bank Arena with the highlight of the weekend being a tournament with Connecticut's four Division I men's programs taking part.
The match-ups will be announced at a later date, but the Huskies are being joined by Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart and Yale in the first of its kind two-day, four game tournament with all games broadcast live on SNY. The opening games are scheduled for Saturday, January 25 and the winners and losers from day one will then face-off on Sunday, January 26. Tickets are on sale now through SNY.
31st Ledyard Classic at Dartmouth…
Following the holiday break in December the Huskies will jump back into action by participating in the 31st Annual Ledyard Classic two-day tournament at Dartmouth College's Thompson Arena.
The Huskies will open the tournament taking on St. Lawrence at 4 pm on Saturday, December 28. UConn faced the Saints last season at the Ice Vegas Invitational, a 6-3 Husky win in Vegas in what was the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
UConn will face the host Big Green in the Sunday 7 pm match-up to close out the weekend. The Huskies and Big Green have not faced-off since the 2010-11 season while Dartmouth has won both previous meetings between the two schools.
Atlantic Hockey, ECAC & NCHC Match-ups…
The opening month of October will feature four non-conference match-ups for the Huskies. The 2019-20 season opener will be a state rivalry match-up with the Pioneers down in Bridgeport on Saturday, October 5.
The following weekend is a two-game set to open the home schedule at the XL Center in downtown Hartford. UConn welcomes the Army West Point Black Knights of Atlantic Hockey to their home ice on Friday, October 11 and then will host the ECAC's Rensselaer Engineers the following day, October 12. The Huskies make a return trip to RPI the following week on October 18.
Following the Thanksgiving holiday, the Huskies will welcome the Miami Red Hawks from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference to Hartford for two-games on Friday and Saturday, November 29 and 30. The two teams met for the first time ever two seasons ago at Miami, a two-game Red Hawk series sweep.
