STORRS, Conn. – UConn women's rowing assistant coach Ally Zoppa has been elevated to associate head coach, as announced by 22nd-year head coach Jennifer Sanford. Zoppa, a two-time graduate of UConn, most recently wrapped up her 11th season on the UConn staff.
"I'm honored to be recognized with this new role," said Zoppa. "I'm excited to continue to work with these amazing student-athletes and staff to continue to grow our program to the next level."
A four-year member of the UConn rowing team, Zoppa served as team captain in her senior year. As a junior, she stroked UConn's lightweights to a silver medal in the Second Varsity Four at the Big East Championship, and was also a member of the Novice Eight that placed third at both the Big East Championship and the Dad Vail Regatta in 2005.
"I'm very pleased to have Ally Zoppa promoted to associate head coach," said Sanford. "It is well deserved after her years of dedication and commitment to the rowing program."
A native of East Hartford, Conn., she earned her bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies with minors in English and Psychology and her master's degree in Sport Management.
