AMHERST, Mass. - The UConn women's soccer team scored three second half goals to lift the Huskies to a 4-1 victory in their exhibition finale at UMass.
Duda Santin (Curitiba, Brazil) led the way for UConn with a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the 56th minute. Duda sped past the UMass defense and drew a penalty in the box that led to her converting a penalty kick to give the Huskies a 2-1 advantage. The Brazilian tallied three goals in the Huskies two exhibition matches.
UConn continued to apply pressure throughout the second half with Kess Elmore (Liverpool, England)Â scoring moments after Duda's goal. For Elmore, it was her first goal since missing the entire 2018 season due to an ACL injury.
Freshman Gia DeLorenzo (Monroe, Conn.) capped the scoring with a goal in the 86th minute to extend the UConn advantage to 4-1.Â
The Huskies now turn the page to the regular season, beginning with their regular season opener on Thursday, August 22 at Providence at 7 p.m.
