STORRS, Conn.— The 2019 season is upon us as the UConn volleyball team prepares to take the court after an offseason hiatus to face the University of Rhode Island in an exhibition.

Courtney Morris, Isabelle Peterson, Ally Barrett, and Meredith Pellegrino share their thoughts on the preseason and the year to come!
Ally: "Preseason is coming to an end, and I think the whole team agrees that we couldn't be more excited for competition season to start. We kick off with an exhibition against Rhode Island at home this Saturday. Even though it is only a scrimmage, it will be great experience before heading into our first real game against Gonzaga next Thursday. It will be nice to play against another team because when you play your teammates every day, you adjust to their tendencies so fresh competition is always a nice spice.
As volleyball ramps up, so does school. Classes start Monday. We are a little less excited for classes, but a new semester always brings new opportunities alongside the challenges, so I am eager to see what this chapter of my life holds in all aspects. Speaking of new chapters, we have a whole new team this year with so much potential. We lost five seniors but gained six new teammates who have been fitting into the team wonderfully and stepping up on the court. There is a semi-new coaching staff who have shaken things up a bit, but we are growing and thriving. We are a new program with a new vigor to show this conference what we can do."
Izzy: "This preseason has been very exciting for me in terms of seeing the team come together. I love playing with this group of girls, and I can't wait to see all that we're going to accomplish together. The time really is now."
Meredith: "I am so excited to see where this team is going to go! We have shown throughout preseason that we are more than ready to take on these teams and leave a lasting impact on the American Athletic Conference before heading to the Big East next year!"
Courtney: "Our team is getting better and better every single day. We are improving our skills each and everyday, and I think that the sky is the limit with this team. We lost some seniors who were key pieces in our lineup but we have people stepping up in new roles this year. The freshman are doing well and I think they are going to be key factors in helping our team win this year!"
