MBB Continues Conference Play Against Tulsa

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's basketball team returns home after playing four of its last six games on the road, entertaining the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in an American Athletic Conference game at the XL Center in Hartford. The game is scheduled for a noon tipoff and will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

What to Know
- Tulsa leads the extremely competitive all-time series 6-4.
- Since UConn and Tulsa have been in the American Athletic Conference together, they have created a rather intense rivalry, with only one of the nine games decided by more than 10 points. In fact, four of their last five meetings have been decided by a two-point margin, including one in overtime and one in double overtime.
- UConn (10-8 overall, 1-4 American) has played three consecutive ranked opponents and now faces the team that's tied for first place in the AAC. The Huskies are coming off a 63-59 loss at Houston on Thursday.
- They are led in scoring by senior Christian Vital (14.2), who also holds the top spot in rebounding (6.7). Redshirt junior Alterique Gilbert leads the team in assists(4.7), while redshirt freshman Akok Akok leads in blocked shots (2.78).
- Tulsa (13-6, 5-1), which has won four straight, is coming off an 80-40 home win over Memphis on Wednesday. Junior guard Brandon Rachal leads the Hurricane in scoring (14.8) and rebounding (6.5), with junior Jeriah Horne (12.2) and senior Martins Igbanu (10.1) also averaging in double figures. Junior Elijah Joiner hands out the most assists (3.2).
Leading the Pack
Dan Hurley begins his second season as head coach of the UConn men's basketball team. Hurley became the 19th head coach in the history of UConn men's basketball on March 22, 2018. Prior to his hiring, he spent two seasons at Wagner College and six at the University of Rhode Island and owns a collegiate coaching record of 167- 122 (.578). Hurley made two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2016-17, 2017-18) and was named the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
